Summer’s here, though it’s raining now (1st & 2nd June)! But, remind yourself of the searing heat to come and enjoy June while it lasts…
How I love June. It feels as if a switch has been turned on towards the end of May and summer has truly started. June is great because the days are warm boarding on hot, but not like the oppressive heat that July to September brings. The average daytime temperature this month will be 29C with a couple of days touching 33C. The lowest night time temperature is 16C, but more likely to be around the 20C point. This means that sightseeing is still pleasant and lazy days on a favourite garden bench are very viable.
In last month’s weather watch I mentioned the great sunshine hours per day Malta receives compared with our northern neighbours. June brings a solid 11 hours per day and the rainfall if any this month will be minimal.
Heading for the beach makes a lot of sense. Children are still at school so the seaside is not as crowded as it will be later this summer. The sea temperature is a lovely 21C. You can see the real-time weather at www.it-temp.com and if one clicks on the Records button in the middle of the home page, a table is presented showing the weather records for this month. Keep your eyes open for some nice temperatures.
