This was such great fun. Impeccably organised, very well-anchored by Keith Farnan. Paul Sinha’s ramblings on life as a gay Indian who turned his back on medicine to become a stand-up comedian resonated with anyone who, like him, wants to chase their dreams – or the poor blokes in the audience he picked on in his attempts to ‘get a relationship that’s been missing since 1991’.
Terry Alderton is on another planet. I don’t know if he’s a comic or a ventriloquist or a very physical actor or a mime artist. Just the sounds that he makes from his mic would have been enough to get him into the MC hall of fame. It’s a real stream of consciousness tour de force – at times, he reminded me of Robin Williams at his best; at others, a sly artist who thoroughly researches his material. His caricatures of all that is good and odd about Malta went down particularly well. A truly original performer.
The company was good. I hadn’t laughed so much in years.
